Q: Got a ticket with my Florida motorcycle license. Will it affect my maryland car license and insurance?
I was pulled over on Wednesday for turning right on red on my motorcycle without coming to a complete stop. I have a Florida "Motorcycle Only" license that I got recently so I can ride when I'm here for school. I also have a Maryland driver's license just for cars. Will this ticket add points to my Maryland driver's license or just to my Florida motorcycle license or both? And will this ticket affect my Maryland auto insurance since it was on a motorcycle and it was with a Florida only license?

A: Sean B, I suggest you visit a nearby car insurance agent to assist you. Since I live in Louisiana I can't suggest an agent in Maryland, but here is an resource that can help you. http://www.simpleautoquotes.com/Auto-Insurance.html Hope it works out

Q: I currently contemplating starting an auto insurance business in Maryland. What is involved?
I don't currently have any experience in the insurance business, I am currently in a sales position though. Would it be better to invest in a franchise or be an independent broker?

A: For auto insurance the easiest way to get a free quote is do a auto policy comparison. If you choose the same coverage levels, you can get an fast quote to compare against others. Use the same coverage area, car make and model, mileage and driving history to make sure you get accurate comparison. To get mulitple auto insurance quotes, go to http://www.easyautoinsuranceguide.com/Maryland-Car-Insurance.html and you can compare all the major auto insurance companies.

Q: Maryland Auto Insurance Premium for teens(19yrs)?
I am 19 years old, living in Baltimore and got my driving license last week. I have a Nissan Sentra. So what would be my auto insurance premium for a year? How is it calculated? Which are the good companies?

A: I use Geico insurance as a driver off my parents insurance. For the first six months of my license I paid $250/mo. After six months, I went down to $125/mo, but that also includes a Good Student discount. Yours will be a bit higher, because you are a male and you live in Baltimore (city I'm assuming?). Also my rates are liability only. If you go to the different websites, you can get a rate quote. I personally am happy with Geico (www.geico.com). Progressive will compare rates for you. (www.progressive.com). Good luck! Being a new driver hits the wallet hard.

Q: Hi, I’m looking for reasonably priced auto insurance in the Maryland area – any recommendations?
Important factors: Low cost, good customer service, and prompt claim response . Thanks for taking the time to read my question.

A: CHECK WITH THE BOARD OF INSURANCE WHICH IS ON LINE AND THIS WAY YOU WILL BE ABLE TO SEE FIRST HAND ALL INSURANCE COMPANIES INCLUDING THEIR RATINGS PRICING AS WELL AS HOW THEY PAY AND TREAT CONSUMERS AND MAYBE BE ABLE TO ASSIST YOU. THE BEST THING TO DO IS ASK AROUND YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD AS WELL AS AT WORK AND SEE WHAT OTHER PEOPLE ARE SAYING. REMEMBER THAT WORD OF MOUTH IS ALWAYS THE BEST ADVERTISEMENT AROUND.

Q: is $100 an ok price for liability auto insurance in maryland?
where can i get the best liablity auto insurance in maryland

A: Your rates depend on many things - driving history/record, use of vehicle, type of vehicle, age, (sometimes but not always: marital status, gender), credit score, drivers ed, other policies (multi-line discount), coverage selected, coverage limits selected. Given that we don't know any of this stuff about you - we can't really answer that. I can tell you than an agent will give you the best rate he can. You may need to shop around and see what rate other companies offer for the same coverage.

Q: how long do you have in maryland to add a new auto to your insurance?
I'm being told that it's 14 days, when I thought maryland state law says 30 days?

A: About 1/2 of a second after you sign the docs, give up your money and get the key. Please don't get in your new purchase until you get insurance. In most states it is against the law to drive without ins.

Q: In Maryland how long does it take for an auto insurance company to pay after they go to court.?
IT'S THE OTHER GUY'S FAULT,HIT ME FROM THE REAR NOW THE POLICE REPORT SAYS WHO AT FAULT BUT I WAS WONDERING WILL IT BE ON THE SAME COURT DAY OR IT'S GONNA GET DRAGGED OUT FOR MONTHS ANY LAWYER CAN SHED LIGHT ON THIS OR ANY ONE WHO BEEN IN A SIMULAR ACCIDENT THANKS FOR YOUR RESPONSE

A: Police do NOT determine fault - it's only an opinion. If you go to court, and there's a judgement, AND THERE'S COVERAGE UNDER THE POLICY, the insurance company has 30 days to cut a check. If you have a lawyer, the check goes to your lawyer, and can sit on their desk for weeks. If there's no coverage, then the guy who hit you has 30 days to cut a check. If he doesn't, you have to try to collect from him.

Q: Which Auto insurance is BEST for Me?
I live in Maryland and I just got my learner's permit. I have to get auto insurance before I can regester my car at the MVA or I will get a penilty. I am independant, and I have no one else to really help in this catagory. is it posible to get insurance with a learner's permit? If so, how, and which company?

A: You may want to talk to an independent agent - as opposed to a captive agent. A captive agent is one that sells insurance for just one company (State Farm, Nationwide, Allstate). An independent agent is licensed to sell for several companies (although not the same companies a captive agent sells for). Independent agents will frequently sell for companies like Progressive, Hartford, Travelers. But since an independent agent has access to more companies -they can check with each and find the one that is best for you. Good Luck.

Q: What is the average monthly cost for auto insurance
I live Maryland and I'm 16

A: Insurance is very individual because it's based on personal record, sex, age, and a number of other variables such as location, credit rating etc I've bookmarked this sites to go back to, it's free to get quotes http://gsx1.com/InsuranceComparison.html http://gsx1.com/Car-Insurance/100.php http://finance.ebookorama.com/ukusa-selected-resources.php

Q: What should I know before buying a motorcycle in Maryland?
Several questions here: (1) How much does a motorcycle cost? Not a Harley or anything, I'm thinking a speedbike sorta thing. And I'm on a very strict budget, so low-end price range here. (2) How much does auto insurance cost? I'm under 21, so insurance is inherently expensive for me. That's why I want to buy a motorcycle in the first place. (3) What do I have to do as far as a motorcycle license? I live in Maryland. What are the prerequisites? What course(s) do I need to take and how much do they normally cost? Thanks a lot.

A: The cops are very strict about motorcycle so be careful if u get 1 ticket u might as well kiss ur lincense goodbye and dont get one from Perrys Motorbikes on 3rd Street they run bad

Q: do you have to get boat insurance for your personal boat?
I'm pretty certain you dont HAVE to get boat insurance like you do auto insurance, but if anyone knows otherwise, I'd like to know. I live in maryland, but I'm sure in most states u dont have to get insurance for your boat.

A: IN MARYLAND you do not need boat insurance, but you do have to have a boat operators license if you was born after July 1, 1972. Maryland also charges a boat tax, even on non residents if the boat is there more than 60 days Its best to check with your state you live in, for some states like ARKANSAS requires liability insurance if the boat motor is larger than 50 hp.

Q: How reliable is Erie Auto Insurance?
I'm a 17 year old boy living in maryland and i just got my car. its a black 1995 acura integra ls and im the ONLY licensed driver in my family so the insurance policy will have me as the primary driver. I got a quote online from Erie and it said i can expect to pay $1200 - $2000 a year for insurance if i insure under minimum deductables. that sounds like a great deal but since its so cheap it sounds kinda fishy if you have Erie auto insurance or worked for them or something, are they reliable? do they jack up the rates really high after an accident? Thanks!

A: The following site will show you Survey Results on how satisfied customer are you with Erie Insurance. It also provides Overview, Company Info, Survey Results, Comments, Contact Info and related links

Q: Question involving car registration in a new state?
I have a Maryland drivers license but I might want to get a Florida D/L soon cuz I've lived here for some time now. Do I have to change my auto insurance account and agent when I register down here? or can I keep my present insurer? I am insured with Nationwide and they have been on my side for 5 years now. I've been a great customer of theirs and I like being one. Can I still stay with them if I get my car registered in Florida and replace my MD license plates with FL license plates?

A: Your insurance must match the state your vehicle is registered in. If your car is still registered in Maryland you can keep Maryland coverage on it. Most states require that you title your car in that state within 60 days, which means that you would have to get a local nationwide agent in FL to write you a FL policy. Good luck, b/c insurance is EXPENSIVE in Flordia...

Q: Insurance information.?
I recently purchased auto insurance from a certain company. while given them my info, i told them i only drive 3miles to work. However i recently changed jobs and now i have to travel about 15 miles to work. Also i live in maryland and i have to drive to dc once a week which is like a 50 mile drive. Do i need to contact my insurance company and tell them my new development or do i just tell them that my estimated annual mileage will increase. Also, will my rates go up?

A: It depends on how honest you want to be. If the distance you drive to work changes, your premiums may increase since you're now a higher risk. So......you could be honest and tell them now, or wait until a customer review comes along and see if they ask. Since your asking for our opinions, I'll give you mine. I think you should call them and report the change. I believe that lying by omission is still lying. And you never know, they might say that the mileage increase is still not enough to bump your premiums up. Then you can rest your head easily at night and still pay the same amount in insurance.
