Q: cheap ohio auto insurance?
hi! does anyone know what some of the cheapest auto insurance companies are in ohio?

A: There is no ONE insurance company that is right for everyone - everyone is rated individually - and all companies have different "likes and dis-likes", different credit tiers, different business models, and many other factors that can vary your rate - and a QUOTE is ONLY a quote until the policy is issued. Typically, insurance rates will vary from State to State and can even vary by ZIPCODE! It also will depend on the type of car/truck, coverages, limits of liability, and driving record. Some companies run credit scores and MOST run a motor vehicle report and CLUE (Comprehensive Loss Underwriting Exchange) report to see about undisclosed accident involvement. The best thing to do is call a LOCAL independent agent or broker. Don't go across town, or to some other city - look for someone CLOSE. Just look in the phone book for the PIA or Big I (Trusted Choice) logos and you will find a professional licensed agent that will be able to help you solve your insurance problems, and give you rate comparisons of several different companies. An independent insurance agent will normally have a dozen different companies and if he cannot help you, he should be networked with other local agents that can. In my agency, we have companies that do NOT run a credit score and welcome drivers with "less than perfect" driving records and specialize in youthful operators! Most of the replies on this site say "go to this on-line carrier or that on-line carrier or that 1-800 number" but I'm sure that when you do, you will find some impersonal computer user with a script to work from and you won't be able to talk with the same person every time you have a problem! Good luck, drive RESPONSIBLY and I hope this helps!

Q: Is carrying only comprehensive auto insurance legal in Ohio when the car has plates but is not being driven?
I thought that it was required to have liability if the car has plates on it (b/c in the past I have been required to randomly send in proof of insurance through the mail). The car will not be driven in the next 6 months and my husband askes to have some type of storage insurance put on it to lower our bill. They secretary switched it to comprehensive only.

A: I suggest you visit a nearby auto insurance agent to assist you. Since I live in Utah I can't recommend an agent in Ohio, but here is an resource that can help you. http://www.autoadviceonline.com/Free-Auto-Insurance-Quote.html

Q: in the state oh ohio is it possible for an adult to get auto insurance with temps?
If so where???

A: if you're talking about a temporary license, it may be possible but not required. My son has temps and he doesn't have to have insurance until he gets his actual license. We are in Ohio.

Q: ceapest full coverage auto insurance in ohio?

A: A number of factors can affect the cost of your automobile insurance. Age, make and model of car, driving record, purpose the car serves, where you keep and drive your car, and your credit rating all affect insurance rates. Ways to lower your rates: There are a number of things you can do to lower your rates. Here are some tips: 1) Choose an automobile that is inexpensive to insure. 2) Ask your insurer if they offer any discount plans. Most insurance companies have both vehicle and operator discounts. 3) Raising your deductible can lower your premiums. Make sure you can afford a higher deductible. 4) It pays to shop around. You can often find policies that vary hundreds of dollars for the same coverage on the same car. Try an online service that will give you multiple quotes from top companies. 5) Drive defensively. 6) Improve your credit history. Q: What is the best insurance company to get auto and home through in Ohio?
I want to get them both through the same company because they give you discounts rates. The insurance will be for two cars and include my wife on the account. Is there an easy place to compare rates?

A: We had Allstate for several years and when we purchased our new home and car, we decided to compare rates. Allstate was the highest. Nationwide was okay, but they required a membership to the Farm Bureau to get their rates??!!?? We went with State Farm. We got more coverage for less money than any other place we compared.

Q: What happens in the state of Ohio if someone gets into an auto accident without insurance?

A: judging by the nature of your question i am guessing that you or someone you know has been or is in this situation. well, the answers are not easy. if the accident was your fault you can expect to be not only prosecuted by the state but also by the other persons insurance company. the state will take your license for an undetermined amount of time. anywhere beween 90 days to a year or more. if the accident was not your fault then the other persons insurance company will have to pay for your damages including medical bills. but this does not mean that the state will not pursue legal action against you for failure to maintain financial responsibility. remember when you went to purchase your plates you had to sign a form stating that you would not drive without insurance. so if this is the case then you are in a world of sh*t. the only way you will get your license back when the smoke clears is to carry an sr-22 bond and high risk insurance which you must maintain for a minimum of 5 years. now if this is scaring you it should. driving without insurance is like poking a crocodile with a stick----sooner or later something bad will happen. good luck.

Q: live in ohio had auto accident i was not cited the other guy ran red light and wasspeeding my insurance was no
my insurance was not in effect will i be liable for his damage?or is he liable for mine he has insurance in effect devastated in ohio

A: The other guy is legally liable for your damages. You do not need an attorney as someone has suggested. Call his carrier and file a claim. If you were not injured, don't start claiming injuries. You are walking a fine line not having insurance in the first place. Take what you can get, don't be greedy.

Q: Can you exclude your husband from auto insurance if his License is Suspened in Ohio And you live in Ohio?

A: You can always exclude people from your insurance if they are not going to drive the car. The key words here are "NOT going to drive". Just call up the insurance company and inform them that he needs to be taken off the policy because he is not going to be driving.

Q: I had No Fault insurance in Mich. The guy who hit me is from Ohio.Do I have any recourse for cost of my auto?
I didn't understand the no fault law and I believed that if another driver were at fault, their insurance would cover my costs. Clearly this is not the case. Because the driver who made an illegal left turn and totalled my car was from Ohio, is there anything that I can recover from his insurance for cost of my vehicle, or am I just out of luck because Michigan's law sucks?

A: Yup... MI laws suck! It's the only state I know of where No-Fault DOES apply to property damage! I have no idea why that law passed. I don't know MI auto laws very well but I think your limited to collecting about $300 from the other party. You need to have collision insurance on your own vehicle to collect any more. My recommendation... move, if you live in MI. :)

Q: Student auto insurance?
I'm currently a college student and would like to purchase my own auto insurance in Ohio (and no longer be included on my parents insurance). Does anyone have any tips on how/where to get good, affordable auto insurance? Are there any companies that you would recommend? Or ones that offer student/good student discounts? Thanks!

A: For auto insurance the easiest method to get a free quote is do a car policy comparison. If you choose the same coverage amounts, you can get an accurate quote to compare against others. Use the same zipcode, car make/model, mileage and driving history to ensure you get accurate comparison. To get mulitple auto insurance quotes, go to http://www.autoadviceonline.com/Free-Auto-Insurance-Quote.html and you can compare the major auto insurance companies.

Q: How much auto insurance must I have?
I want to know what are the legal limits on car insurance in the state of Ohio for a financed vehicle? I have an 06 Mazda and an 07 Hyundai. They are both financed. How do I go about figuring out the lowest limits I can legally have? Thank you! Duh...I know I can call my insurance company. If you aren't going to answer the question, then don't waste your time...or mine. Thanks.

A: If you carry the state minimum limits of liability, your insurance will cover up to $12,500 per person up to $25,000 per accident for the medical bills of the other people involved in an accident for which you are cited, AND it will pay up to $7,500 per accident for property damage (other vehicles, telephone poles, signs, etc.). If the amount of damage exceeds your limits of liability, then you could be sued for the difference. Therefore, your limits of liability should at least be equal to the value of your assets (home, business, savings, etc). Your deductible is your choice but most finance companies will not allow you to go higher than a $500 deductible.

Q: Does anyone know of any nationwide insurance company (auto), that will back date a brand new policy?
Reason I'm asking is, my wife had 2 brain surgeries recently, and our bills have went severly past due. The insurance poilcy lapsed and I haven't had auto insurance for about a month now. Well, the state of Ohio, sent me a letter stating I was randomly picked to show that I had proof of insurance on a specific previous date. :(( PLEASE HELP!!!

A: Regarding your solictation for Insurance fraud If You find one,, Please be sure and report them to Your State Insurance Regulators as well as your local FBI office so that the agent and yourself can be prosecuted for Insurance Fraud to the fullest extent of the Law. Insurance Fraud is a Felony offense on both the State and Federal Level. 20 years in a federal prison sounds like a fair sentence for you and the agent.

Q: I got a ticket for not having auto insurance ,should i get an attorney?
Can they take my license for my first offense in Ohio? Any info would help. I was only driving to work since my truck would not start and only way to work was to drive my other car .

Q: What is the length of time an insurance company must pay a claim after a settlement has been reached in Ohio.?
This is with respect to auto accidents in Ohio. A settlement has been reached and I do not know how long I need to wait for the settlement check.

A: you should post this in the legal section - Just FYI

Q: What if you don't have auto insurance?
My daughter got a letter from the DMV in Ohio requesting that she shows proof of liability insurance that would have been in effect on May 30th or she will get a 90 day suspension of her drivers license. If she got insurance now would they still revoke her license? I am hoping for some ideas to help her as she drives a school bus and can't afford to lose her license.

A: If she was driving a bus during that time, then the company that she drives for would have to have her listed on their insurance. Have her talk to HR and get a letter stating that she was covered under their insurance. If they are wanting proof that a car was insured and it wasn't, you better have a good reason (it wasn't running) that it hasn't been insured. Get insurance as soon as you can!
