Q: What is the cheapest, full-coverage auto insurance in Pennsylvania for an age 54 female?

A: That is a question that is basically impossible to answer. It depends on a variety of factors, so what is best for me might be the highest for you. Just of few of the things they consider: age, gender, vehicle type, mileage, use (business or pleasure), zip code where it's parked at night, credit rating--and it goes on. Best thing to do. Find an independent agent not tied to one company, give him your information and needs, (comprehensive only, or full coverage, etc.) and let him search. Do consider uninsured/under-insured motorist coverage. Good luck in your search.

Q: can a 19 year old get their own auto insurance policy in pennsylvania?

A: Yes, it's going to be expensive, but you can get insurance.

Q: In Pennsylvania, can I rent a car if I don't have auto insurance?
And what happens if I get in an accident?

A: Yes, you can. The car rental place will make you purchase insurance to cover the vehicle during the time you are driving it though. I don't own a car, but I rent all the time when I have to go places for work. It works the same way in every state I have been to so far.

Q: When getting your car inspected do they call your auto insurance company?
I was just wondering if in Pennsylvania when getting your car inspected do they call your insurance company to make sure you have insurance on the vehicle or do they just look at your insurance card.

A: They don't look nor call, they don't have to. This information has been on line in PA since 1997. If your current insurance bill isn't paid, your file will be flagged and they can revoke your drivers license.

Q: Pennsylvania car insurance..?
I am from Allegheny County, and I was wondering some stuff about auto insurance. I was told that I had to have car insurance if i had a license with OR without a car. I don't have a car and do not plan on getting one. Is it true that you have to have insurance even if you do not own a car yourself? (i'm 19, living in a dorm in college so I would only be driving my parents car in the summer anyways.. so i don't want to pay a ton for insurance when i won't be using it.)

A: If you are living in a dorm at college, you are still considered a resident relative in your parents' household, therefore, you still need to be covered on their auto policy. PA is a PIP state & even if you are a passenger in another vehicle, your medical will come from their policy as a resident relative. Anyway, if you are at school, over 100 miles away, without a vehicle, you will get a significant discount on the policy. If you are a female away at school, you would be rate class would be what is known as "all other" which is the adult driver rate, which will cost your parents little to nothing to have you listed as a driver. If you are male, your rate is a little higher (but rated as a married male which reduces the rate significantly also). Have your parents call their insurance company to get a rate. The agent can explain this all to them.

Q: pa auto insurance?
how long is the jail term for a 2nd violation in 2 years for driving without insurance in pennsylvania?

A: 30 days, plus the car is impounded.

Q: Help! I need auto insurance fast?
I'm 23 years old and need auto insurance immediately. I live in California and would prefer to have nationwide coverage. I am single, no kids. I'm really considering liability or something low-end because insurance here is a lot more than what I was paying in Pennsylvania. I am also a full-time student and heard that might get me a discount with some agencies. Any advice?

A: Get off the computer. Go and find an independent agent, one not connected to any company. Give him your information, and the coverage you want. Let him look at his data base and find what is best for you. Write a check, get the proof of coverage. Now you have coverage, and someone local you can talk to if there is ever a need.

Q: Auto Accident in PA: how do I collect when I don't have collision and it's the other drivers fault?
My son was involved in an auto accident in Pennsylvania with our 96 Maxima that has no collision insurance. The other driver was at fault and was cited by the police. How do we collect for damages? Must we sue the other driver? Do we talk to the other driver's insurance co?

A: No need to sue. Just file a claim against his liability coverage. Call and report the loss. The claims rep will explain the process to you. No big deal. No attorney needed. Edit - your insurance company will not help you recover your damages since you do not have collision coverage. If you have an agent, the agent can report the claim.

Q: How long does it take to receive a check after accepting an offer from an insurance company?
I received a settlement offer from the insurance company of the other person involved in an auto accident I had awhile back. I accepted the offer, but I need to know how long I should expect to have to wait before I receive my check. Some people were telling me that it takes a couple of months but I find that hard to believe. By the way, I live in Pennsylvania.

A: If they required you to sign a release or acceptance letter, then it should be pretty quick upon their receipt of it. If no signature was required, it should be pretty quick too. I'd say 14-21 days to cover any paperwork they need to fill out and then allow for processing and mailing of the check. If you don't have it by then, definitely follow up with the examiner who handled your claim.

Q: Question about family car insurance policy...?
I've had a family auto insurance policy for a couple years, now my son is moving into his own apartment. Can I keep him under my policy even though his address will be different than mine? He will still driving a vehicle registered to me. We live in Pennsylvania.

A: It depends upon the insurance company. Some companys rate policies by vehicle ownership, which means all vehicles owned by the customer irrespective of where they are kept, should be insured on the same policy. Others rate on the household, which means all vehicles kept at the same garaging address should be insured on the same policy. Some companies will also take into consideration whether or not he is a financial dependent. Some companys will "split" the account and spin off his own policy that is a copy of yours. Others will require that he write his own policy and qualify on his own. Every company has its own guidelines and rules. I'd recommend that you contact your agent and see how your insurance company handles the issue.

Q: How many Independent Medical Evaluations in a given year?
I am trying to find out how many Independent Medical Evaluations are conducted for insurance defense (workers comp, general liability, disability, and auto) in Pennsylvania in a given year. Any idea how I can find this number out? I'm wondering if I should call the workers comp board or various insurance companies, I'm not sure. Thanks in advance!

A: I doubt that any state board tracks this information. Seems to me you would probably have to contact each insurance company and odds are they are not going to share their data with you.

Q: Do all USA Senators have problems with telling the truth?
With economic troubles dominating the race, McCain opened the new line of criticism against Romney at his first event of the day in Fort Myers, Fla., and sought to shift the campaign back to his strength, national security, and away from Romney's, the economy. First, he slapped at Romney without naming him during a question-and-answer session with Floridians, saying: "Now, one of my opponents wanted to set a date for withdrawal that would have meant disaster." Minutes later to reporters, the Arizona senator was more direct: "If we surrender and wave a white flag, like Senator Clinton wants to do, and withdraw, as Governor Romney wanted to do, then there will be chaos, genocide, and the cost of American blood and treasure would be dramatically higher." Asked about the comment in Land O' Lakes, Fla., Romney bristled. "That's dishonest, to say that I have a specific date. That's simply wrong," he said. "That is not the case. I've never said that." The former Massachusetts governor added: "I know he's trying desperately to change the topic from the economy and trying to get back to Iraq, but to say something that's not accurate is simply wrong — and he knows better." Later in Sun City, Fla., McCain stuck to his assessment and said: "The apology is owed to the young men and women serving this nation in uniform." He said he was quoting Romney as favoring a "timetable" for withdrawal and argued that he was not misquoting Romney, saying, "Clearly, the impression was that he was ready to set a date for withdrawal." But Romney quotes circulated by McCain's campaign didn't show Romney making that exact comment — nor did aides back up McCain's earlier comment that suggested that Romney "wanted to set a date for withdrawal." In an interview with ABC News in 2007, Romney said: "There's no question that the president and (Iraqi) Prime Minister al-Maliki have to have a series of timetables and milestones that they speak about. But those shouldn't be for public pronouncement. You don't want the enemy to understand how long they have to wait in the weeds until you're going to be gone." While Romney has never set a public date for withdrawal, he has said that he agrees with Gen. David Petraeus, the top U.S. commander in Iraq, that U.S. troops could move to more of an oversight role in 2008. McCain, for his part, has been a staunch supporter of the Iraq war and advocated more troops on the ground for years before Bush embraced that position last year and ramped up the number of U.S. forces in Iraq. The buildup helped curb violence in Iraq, and McCain has not been shy about claiming credit for the strategy's success. Romney aides labeled McCain's charge "stunningly false," while McCain aides portrayed his Iraq comments as part of a broader effort in the coming days to question Romney's leadership, foreign policy experience and judgment. A former venture capitalist and business consultant, Romney has spent the past week arguing that he is the Republican best able to right a troubled economy, given his 25-year record in the private sector. He's argued that McCain, who has spent much of his life in the military and in Congress, doesn't have the qualifications necessary to lead the country out of a potential recession. McCain, in turn, has sought to beat back Romney on the issue by arguing that a president needs to be ready to lead and qualified on both national security and economics, and he offers both — despite having previously acknowledged that the economy is not his strongest suit. He also sought to rebut Romney's criticisms in an unusual fashion: he dispatched high-profile surrogates to talk with the press corps traveling with the former governor. Among them: former Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge and former Massachusetts Gov. Jane Swift. She boarded the Romney press bus to repeat similar criticisms to reporters. ____ Associated Press Writers Glen Johnson in St. Petersburg, Fla., and Libby Quaid in Fort Myers, Fla., contributed to this report. * Email Story * IM Story * Printable View RECOMMEND THIS STORY Recommend It: Average (196 votes) 2.7 stars » Recommended Stories Full Coverage: 2008 Presidential Election Off the Wires * Obama runs away with SC primary AP, 3 minutes ago * Racial divide could hurt Obama beyond SC AP, 4 minutes ago News Stories * Obama wins in South Carolina at The Chicago Tribune (reg. req'd), Jan 27 * Obama wins South Carolina at Politico, Jan 27 Opinion & Editorials * Obama's Big Win in SC a Referendum on Clintons The Nation via Yahoo! A: Telling the truth would often result in alienating a block of voters. In a close race that can mean defeat in an election. Getting elected is a politician's top priority, above all else. They all do it. JFK lied when he said the U.S. farmer could feed the world. He knew it wasn't true, but it got him the farm vote along with a lot of the do-gooders votes--farmers saw $ bills while others felt the tug on their heartstrings. Ike Eisenhower was Supreme Commander of Allied Expeditionary Forces in Europe in WWII and later a two-term president. But it wasn't 'til his farewell address to the nation that he warned us about the threat of our "huge military industrial complex". He had basically lied about it for his enire career by hiding from the general public what he knew. And even though I'd call him basically a good man, albeit plenty paranoid, even he was probably overwhelmed by it all. I could not imagine a politician surviving political office by telling the truth all the time. Jesus Christ tried it and you see what they did to him.

Q: Would I still be covered if Im not going to school?
I am thinking about taking the semester off. I need to focus on making money with a full time job to have a place to live. My father is telling me no beause he thinks that I need to be in school to still be covered under his auto policy. We live in Pennsylvania and I am 20 years old, I just want to know if I could still be covered under his auto policy if I am not in college for a semester? I know that health insurance wouldnt be covered since the age 19 if your not going to school.

A: The best way to really know is to call your insurance agent. If you're not covered then a possible solution would be to take a simple class that you can work into your schedule.
