Q: What is the typical rate for adding a teenage girl to auto insurance in Texas?
Female
Texas
Drivers Education Completed
A: I deal strictly with auto insurance and add teenagers everyday. There's really no straight answer I can give you, because there are so many variables.
Insurance companies in Texas typically have 25 or more rating tiers. That means 25 different base rates depending on what risk your policy is considered. There is also a big difference in rates depending on what county you live in. I do in-state address changes that subtract or add as much as $300 to people's rates.
If you're in a cheap county and in one of your insurance company's most preferred tiers, it might only be an extra $20 - $30/month. On the other end of the spectrum, you could be looking at an extra $200 - $300/month.
I wish I could be more specific.

Q: Does my auto insurance cover me in a rent car?
I bought car insurance from AIG on-line; the policy does not state that I am or am not covered when renting a car. I live in Texas. The policy I have does note various 'endorsements' related to Texas. When I call the help desk at AIG and ask if I am covered, they cannot tell me. Does the Texas Auto Insurance endorsements require that my insurance go with me when renting a car? If I am also driving someone else's car, what coverage would go with me as part of standard Texas policy? I have Liability, Uninsured/underinsured, coverage for damage to my auto (other than collision/collision). When I rent a car from say Enterprise, if my own insurance is in force, what extra coverage should I get so I do not have to pay a thing if their car gets scratched or dented? thank you.....frustrated in Texas.
A: Read your policy carefully. If it has language that specifically extends coverage to "non-owned vehicles" then you may be covered. It should also define "non-owned vehicles" since that definition varies from one policy to the next and one company to the next.
With some policies, coverage is only extended to "temporary replacement vehicles" meaning that if your car is out of service and you rent one while yours is being repaired, you're covered. This would NOT include a rental car while traveling on business or vacation.
A good policy will specifically explain when you are covered and when you are not. But if the policy doesn't specifically state that you're covered in a rental vehicle you should assume that you are NOT covered. That's the ONLY safe assumption that you can make.
Even if coverage is extended to rental vehicles, you need to make sure that ALL coverage is extended. Some policies ONLY extend liability coverage while others extend all coverage. Again, if your policy is silent, assume that NO coverage is extended.
Best bet: Look for a policy that extends to all vehicles operated by you or any named insured driver on the policy. Many companies offer policies with this coverage and it's cheap peace of mind.
Hint: If AIG's help desk cannot answer the question, it's time to find another insurance company!
Q: What do you know about Texas auto insurance?
Best of my knowledge, I am required to have liability auto coverage.
I do and I also have pip.
Another driver pulls in front of me, causing accident,,police report and witnesses agree on this.
I am getting treatments 3 times weekly for whiplash.
Now my first question is why does Texas require liability when my pip- is paying the med bills?
Now my second(is this legal?) the adjuster for auto says about half what the shops say and I want to do the work myself.
I want the higher amount and it is a parts price difference.

Q: Is it necessary for a teenage driver to purchase auto insurance before obtaining a driver's permit in Texas?
Do the parents of teenagers just getting their permits have to add them to an insurance policy, or can this be done when they get their actual drivers license? In Texas.
A: As long as the car you are using for practice has insurance, and a licensed driver of the proper age is with you, you are covered and don't need your own policy until you have passed the test, have a license and can drive alone.

A: From 20/40/15 to 25/50/25
"Texas law states that a person may not operate a motor vehicle in this state unless financial responsibility is established for that vehicle. Most people do this by buying automobile liability insurance. The law currently requires minimum coverage of $20,000 per injured person, up to a total of $40,000 for everyone injured in an accident, and $15,000 for property damage (20/40/15 coverage). On April 1, 2008, the minimum required liability limits increase to $25,000 per injured person, $50,000 for everyone injured in an accident, and $25,000 for property damage (25/50/25). "
